The Michael Foster Blog: Dominant Season, Recruiting, 'Messiah' and more
Michael Foster is a consensus top 10 player in the 2021 class and one of the top big men in the country, regardless of class. This season he’s averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks for Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix), which has everyone from Florida State to Arizona to Michigan, among many others, all giving chase. Now, Foster has agreed to give SI All-American exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from intimate details about his recruitment to his everyday life in a blog.
Hi, this is Mike Foster from the 2021 class and I’m kicking off my new Sports Illustrated blog, which I’m excited about.
I feel like overall my team has been playing really well; we’ve had a couple of games that we should’ve won but we’re still coming together and
Right now, I’m averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks a game. The biggest things that I’m working on this season are my left-hand finishes and adding about two or three more inches on my vertical. Right now I’m at 39 inches, but I want to be a little higher than that.
After the season I’ll get to work on that with my trainer Steve Becker to get there.
I’m proud that I’ve improved on my free-throw shooting this season too; I’ve up to about 75-80 percent. I put in a lot of work to get there, but I’m trying to get it even higher.
I think the most fun game this season was the title game at the Chick-fil-A Classic. We really came together and got it done.
I know everyone wants to hear about my recruitment and right now the teams that are recruiting me the hardest are Florida State and Georgia. USC, Arizona, Michigan and UW-Milwaukee, the home school, have been reaching out too. I’m interested in who’s interested in me so that’s where I’m at with everything.
I don’t have dates or anything right now, but I’ll be taking visits to all of those schools at some point here coming up.
It’s crazy to think that the spring/summer season is about to start up, but it’s almost that time. I’ll be running with Mac Irvin Fire and we’re gonna have a really strong team.
I feel like we’ll have a chance to be one of the best teams on the Nike EYBL.
School is going great for me.
I have a 3.4 GPA so that’s something I’m proud of. With our travel schedule it makes us have to keep up with our books almost like we’re a D-I school so that’s helping me prepare for college life.
OK, so something about me that most people may not know is that I’m a gamer!
I’m actually the best gamer. Haha!
No, really I’m the best at Fortnite and NBA 2K!
Just like most players I listen to a lot of music, but these days I’m mostly listening to NBA YoungBoy, Quando Rondo, Polo G, Lil TJay… Most of the younger artists, I guess.
I think you guys should definitely checkout Messiah on Netflix! That’s good! I’m into all of the Marvel comics series too.
