Signing Day Preview: Georgia Bulldogs Football

Georgia has a top five recruiting class on SI All-American and it has the chance to move closer to the top entering the Early Signing Period.

Perhaps no college football program in the country has the chance to climb team recruiting rankings like the Georgia Bulldogs do.

Kirby Smart and company, who appear to have survived a major coaching change with Sam Pittman departing for Arkansas, hold 16 verbal commitments heading into the first day of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday.

How much more will they add?

That answer may depend on public knowledge versus planned announcement scenarios. In the years since the Early Signing Period became Signing Day itself, top recruits playing in marquee all-star events have secretly put pen to paper in December before announcing destinations during January broadcasts of said games. If it happens this cycle, a pair of high-priority Georgia targets will be involved in tight end Darnell Washington and SI All-American defensive back Kelee Ringo

As Bulldog Maven Publisher Brooks Austin points out in the above video, Georgia is in solid position for each prospect regardless of when a decision may go down. Among those planning on making the call a bit sooner, elite prospects like SI All-American defensive end Jordan Burch and speedy wide receiver Arian Smith come to mind.

Burch has done an excellent job of keeping his recruitment close to the  vest but it's not stopping SI All-American from taking its shot, at least Brooks', on where he pick before he signs on the dotted line. Not many of the top prospects in South Carolina have left the state for college football, but not much about this recruitment has been usual.
