Nike's new 'Re2pect' Derek Jeter tribute commercial is one for the ages

Love him or hate him, there's no denying Derek Jeter's place in baseball history. And tomorrow night's MLB All-Star game will be the 40-year-old's last. Team Jordan (basically Nike), whose commercials are among the best in the industry, unveiled its tribute commercial that will air tomorrow before Jeter's final at-bat.

The commercial features an all star lineup of New York names, from Jay-Z to Carmelo Anthony, Phil Jackson to Billy Crystal, Spike Lee to Jordan (who was born in Brooklyn), all giving Jeter respect by tipping their hats.

With gritty cinematography that oozes New York City swagger and the star-studded cameos (also including Tiger Woods), this is probably going to be a very popular commercial -- especially in New York.

In perhaps the most unrealistic part of any Jordan commercial, even Boston Red Sox players and fans tipped their cap to Jeter.

Yeah, right.
