University of Memphis basketball coach Josh Pastner was a longtime flip phone loyalist, but he has finally made the switch to the world of smart phones after his museum-piece cell phone stopped allowing new contacts, according to ESPNRadio 92.9.

Pastner spoke with USA Today last year about his love for the less-than-smart phone.

"This is a dinosaur phone, there's no doubt. Everyone's surprised when they see it. They can't believe it. I tell them, 'Hey, we've signed a lot of good players with this phone.' It's dependable and reliable. It can fall on the floor, break apart and you can put it right back together.”

Ever the iconoclast, Pastner didn't even get the iPhone's newest offering when he upgraded, taking last year's 5s model instead.

Fellow college hoops coaches Tom Crean and Tom Izzo are also known to be flip phone users, which is a surprising move for men whose job requires that they impress teenagers.
