Panthers' fan brings his 'blood and guts' to game vs. Ravens

A Panthers fan didn't forget what former Carolina wide receiver Steve Smith said back in March after he was released.

A Panthers fan didn't forget what former Carolina wide receiver Steve Smith said back in March after he was released.

In talking about what to expect if he ever faces the Panthers this season, Smith offered a fair warning.

"I want to make sure that whatever team I go to, wherever it happens to be, they're going to get the best, in shape, 35-year-old guy they could possibly get," Smith said at the time. "And if that happens to run through Bank of America Stadium ... put your goggles on 'cause there's going to be blood and guts everywhere."

Well, Smith — who is now with the Ravens —  got his chance on Sunday when Baltimore hosted Carolina, and he didn't disappoint.Smith caught seven passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns en route to the Ravens' 38-10 win over the Panthers.

And, of course, here's one fan who took that warning to a whole new level.

But it's not just fans taking part in the bizarre follow-ups to the now-infamous quote. Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams wore goggles when he spoke to the media in the week leading up to the game.
