Former WWE champion CM Punk addressed his abrupt departure from WWE for the first time this week. Punk appeared on the Art of Wrestling podcast with Colt Cabana to discuss the circumstances surrounding his breakup with WWE.
The entire interview is nearly two hours long, but the main takeaway is this: Punk didn't choose to leave WWE. He was fired. TMZ has excerpted the portion of the interview where Punk explains the rift between he and Vince McMahon. Punk was upset that McMahon chose not to feature him in the main event of Wrestlemania.
Eventually, Punk says, he received an envelope in the mail on the day of his wedding containing his termination papers, a move he says was "very calculated and very deliberate."
PWInsider.com also pulled out a few highlights, including Punk's allegation that WWE doctors failed to correctly diagnose him with a staph infection.
