The Oprah Winfrey Network has announced it will be airing its documentary on NFL free agent Michael Sam on Dec. 27.

The documentary will be 90 minutes long and will be followed by an interview between Oprah and Sam.

The network had announced plans in April for a weekly documentary series that would follow the NFL's first openly gay player in training camp, but those plans were placed on hold after the production team spoke with the team that drafted him, the St. Louis Rams. Sam was eventually let go by the Rams and picked up by the Dallas Cowboys, who also ended up releasing him.
