Hugh Freeze says he is proud of Ole Miss team's 2.57 GPA

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze received his team's GPA numbers on Thursday and when he found out the players had put together their highest combined GPA in program history, he decided to share it on Twitter, where people were decidedly less impressed.
Our Football Team earned the highest team GPA (2.57) in recorded history of the football program.” Thanks @UMTrueRebel for a great year

Maybe bad idea to publicize. RT @CoachHughFreeze: Our Football Team earned the highest team GPA (2.57) in recorded history of the program.

@SYRmotsag I am sure it was just fat fingers & it was supposed to be a '3' not a '2'

Freeze did not back down from his pride in his players though, pointing out in a since deleted tweet that "At Public Universities-National Average for Student Athletes =2.3. National Average for Non Student Athletes =2.6.", according to For The Win.
The coach also mentioned that many players had GPAs well above the team average.
Very proud of our young men's academic semester, many of which overcome many obstacles to higher academic achievement & 32 had 3.0 or better
