As always, people took to Twitter to react to the move:
The 1994 version of myself is super stoked about the Lenny Kravitz news. #WhatsNextAceOfBase???

I don't want to live in a world where Lenny Kravitz is a "legendary guitar player". Keith Richards is rolling in his grave half alive.

Lenny Kravitz should only be allowed on stage at the Super Bowl if he wears this. pic.twitter.com/bOsw5vxGA8

Last year, Bruno Mars was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the halftime show.
