President Obama's Super Bowl prediction: 'It's going to be close'

President Barack Obama declined to predict whether the Patriots or Seahawks would win Super Bowl XLIX.

President Barack Obama declined to predict whether the Patriots or Seahawks would win Super Bowl XLIX.

Obama joined NBC News' Savannah Guthrie to discuss the game, politics and craft beer on NBC's Super Bowl pregame show. The president interviewed with Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly before last year's Super Bowl.

During the interview, Guthrie asked Obama whether he thought New England or Seattle would win. Obama didn't predict the winner, only saying "it's going to be close."

Guthrie also asked the president for his thoughts on the Patriots' use of under-inflated footballs during their AFC Championship win over the Indianapolis Colts

"The Patriots were going to beat the Colts regardless of what the footballs looked like," Obama said

But he also said that the Patriots shouldn't be able to get away with foul play. "If you break the rules, you break the rules," he said.
