Baseball's Big Spender

The Yankees' $211 million payroll just took a huge blow when the team was forced to cut a check to minor leaguer Jake Hernandez. The catcher/first baseman, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of USC last season, tweeted out a $0.75 check he received from the team. I have no idea what the payment was for and Hernandez has since deleted the tweet, but anytime a billion-dollar team  issues a check to a prospect for 75 cents, it's going into Hot Clicks.

Kingsford Charcoal Trolls the NCAA

Kingsford Charcoal is taking a stand against the NCAA. Instead of using a generic college hoops player to capitalize on the March Madness craze, the company has decided to use Ed O'Bannon's image and pay him $1 for every time the #PayEd hashtag is used in a tweet. (I'm not sure if he's receiving additional compensation). The best part is the slogan to the left of O'Bannon's image: "Lights 25% faster. Doesn't burn athletes."

Just Another Thursday

Two llamas were on the loose yesterday in Arizona and athletes had plenty to say about it. Then a dress somehow appeared to look like different colors and athletes had plenty to say about that too. It was a strange day.

Lovely Lady of the Day

Sarah from Toronto requested Lucy C. Miller as LLOD. I love requests from females and Canadians so this is a no-brainer (click here for full-size gallery).

Jay Bilas' 1981 Recruiting Letter From Kansas

Before he was President of the Young Jeezy Fan Club, Jay Bilas was just another high school hoops prospect trying to pick a school. The ESPN analylst tweeted out a photo of his 1981 recruiting letter from Kansas to show how recruiting has changed over the years. Bilas famously chose Duke and competed against some pretty decent players.
