In his 17 years as host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart has made a lot of controversial guests uncomfortable with his questions, but Thursday night he showed another side, doing everything he could to protect Matt Harvey, ace pitcher for Stewart's beloved Mets.

When Harvey sat down Stewart provided the starter's arm with a velvet pillow, some miniature NYPD barricades and even a tiny glass of water "in case it gets thirsty."

Harvey and Stewart talked about the attitudes among Mets fans, the culture of the team's young staff in the clubhouse and what fellow pitcher Jacob deGrom's hair smells like, with the host guessing "peach-apricot."
