The Atlanta Braves featured former President Jimmy Carter and his wife and former First Lady, Rosalynn Carter, on the kiss cam during Thursday night’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Last month, Carter, 90, revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer. The 39th President, Carter said the cancer found in his liver was melanoma and that it had spread to small spots in his brain. At the time, he said he was “surprisingly at ease” upon hearing of the diagnosis, and the news elicited an outpouring of support across the country.

When Carter taught his 689th Sunday School lesson at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Ga., on Aug. 23, more than 800 people lined up beginning early in the morning to see him—so Carter volunteered to teach an unprecedented second class.

When the Braves’ broadcast focused on the Carters during Thursday night’s game, the moment was especially touching.

The Blue Jays won the game 5–0.
