Glen Perkins’s middle finger in the dugout was actually an inside joke

Wait, was a second major leaguer caught giving the middle finger during a game? Yes, but it was all in good fun.
Just a couple days after Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins flipped everybody in Detroit the bird, Twins reliever Glen Perkins was spotted in the dugout doing something very similar. Watch for him in the background here.

Uh oh! You can’t do that on TV!
But hang on a second, Perkins wasn’t directing the gesture at rookie starter Jose Berrios. It’s actually an inside joke with Twins team photographer Brace Hemmelgarn.
@ParkerHageman fwiw this bird was directed at @bracehemmelgarn , who has an extensive collection of my middle finger

So we don’t have to worry about Perkins being sent down to the minors like Collins was.
