USA basketball team, Bayern Munich team up and create new sport

Bayern Munich and USA men’s basketball team met up in a hotel ballroom and maybe invented a new sport.

Bayern Munich is spending part of its offseason touring the United States as part of the International Champions Cup, while the USA men’s basketball team is on a barnstorming tour of its own before heading off to Rio de Janeiro.

The two teams crossed paths on Thursday in Chicago and found some time to exchange jerseys, chit chat and maybe invent a new hybrid sport combining soccer and basketball, as seen in this clip of Franck Ribery, Xabi Alonoso, Javi Martinez and Harrison Barnes kicking the ball around and also setting up an alley-oop for DeMarcus Cousins.

Bayern Munich took on AC Milan while in the Windy City, losing in penalty kicks to the Italian squad. The U.S. team is in town to take on the Venezuelan national team on Friday night before heading to Houston for a final tune-up match against Nigeria.

The Bundesliga champs return to league action with a season opener against Bremen on August 26, while United State will face China on August 6 in their first contest of the Rio Olympics.
