Phil Kessel burns USA Hockey with tweet after World Cup elimination

Wednesday September 21st, 2016

Phil Kessel won Twitter on Tuesday night.

Moments after the United States was eliminated from the World Cup of Hockey with a 4–2 loss to Canada, Kessel fired off the following tweet.

Kessel was left off the U.S. roster despite helping the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup and having played for Team USA in the last two Olympics.

Head coach John Tortorella told reporters that he would not change the makeup of the U.S. roster after being eliminated.

The shade is palpable.
