Notice the guy behind home plate in a pink hat? He’s sat there since 1966

His name is Jim Anixter.

Notice a fan in a pink hat sitting behind home plate at Wrigley Field? That’s Jim Anixter—he’s been seated there since 1966.

A recent guest on Fox 32 in Chicago, Anixter explained that he first started wearing a pink hat at the 1990 All-Star Game, when it was a free giveaway. He then continued wearing it and got “Pink Hat Guy” trademarked and slapped it on a hat of his own.

He says he’s popular around the area. 

Glad we’ve got Pink Hat Guy behind home plate for the series instead of Marlins Man. I’d much rather look at a pink hat.
