Iowa’s Caitlin Clark Bluntly Squashed Trash-Talking Opponent With Epic Retort

Caitlin Clark gave a performance for the ages when she became the first player in women’s NCAA tournament history to record a 40-point triple-double during Iowa’s 97–83 win against Louisville in the Elite Eight on Sunday.

However, before the Hawkeyes’ star led her team to victory, Clark was caught on camera dishing out some trash talk to Cardinals guard Hailey Van Lith. With 3:11 to play in the game, Louisville was preparing to inbound the ball from the sideline when Clark appeared to say a fairly sharp remark toward Van Lith.

“You’re down 15 points. Shut up,” Clark was interpreted as saying.

In addition to her finishing with 41 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in the Hawkeyes’ victory, Clark became the first Division I basketball player in NCAA history to record 900+ points and 300+ assists in a single season. No man or woman had previously accomplished this feat.

Iowa will play in this year’s Final Four for the first time since 1993 and the second time in program history. The Hawkeyes will face reigning national champion South Carolina in the national semifinals on Friday.
