NBA Fans Loved Dwyane Wade’s Emotional Speech to His Father at Hall of Fame

Legendary Heat guard Dwyane Wade was enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday. The Miami great emotionally honored Allen Iverson during his induction speech, but he shared an even more touching moment with a member of his family.

Wade spent the end of his speech speaking directly to his father for 2 1/2 minutes, crediting him for making him the player he became.

“When I would cry and say I can’t, you would make me go harder,” Wade said in his speech. “You pushed me to limits that I didn’t know were inside of me. The hard work I put in was because I didn’t want to let you down.”

Throughout the speech, Wade explained how dedicated his father was to helping him become great, which included getting kicked out of a game twice in the same day. The guard also explained how he tries to emulate his father while being a dad to his own kids.

“We had the same exact dream, and we carried the same exact name,” Wade said. “To know we hustled, all the way to the Basketball Hall of Fame, is God’s will.”

Finally, Wade invited his dad onto the stage, creating a moment that resonated strongly with NBA fans.
