NEW - Galvin Green Edge Collection

The new Edge collection by Galvin Green lands this month. We first saw a preview of the line in January and have been anticipating its release ever since.

For the Swedish-golf apparel maker, the Edge collection showcases another level of creativity.

We had a chance to talk to Batur Raza Muhammad, lead designer, to get the inside story about the new collection.

What makes the new Edge collection different than the technical shirts, pants, shorts and outerwear Galvin Green currently makes?

The Edge collection is different than the outerwear Galvin Green currently makes because the design ideology is different. The source of inspiration is different, many team members work together to make it happen. You will also notice that the collection is influenced by current trends in high fashion. All these factors make the EDGE line look completely different from the existing mainline. The pieces are high-tech and specially made for golf, but can also be worn off the course.

Which piece in the Edge collection are you most excited about and why?

Every piece has been given equal attention and time, so it is hard to be excited about only one piece. However, I am a little more excited about the Gore-Tex Rain Jackets. It was the first time that I designed a completely water-proof garment and they turned out really well.

As the lead designer, what was the most challenging part of creating the Edge collection?

The fact that Edge is a capsule collection makes the developmental process challenging. We relied on a more commercial palette like black, grey, white and red with a pinch of red-orange and lime green. It was not possible to use more colors since the number of garments in the collection is limited and it was challenging to create a color story within a smaller range.

A few standouts in the Edge collection:

E-llusion full-zip Gore-Tex jacket has a water repellent zipper, lightweight mesh lining, a lightly padded collar, articulated sleeves, adjustable cuffs/hem, front pockets and spring loaded zipper pull. We are impressed with the optical illusion print and cool urban look.

E-the red shirt takes a subtle camo print and mixes with tonal geometric squares. Made from Ventil8 fabrication, the shirt is UPF 20+, moisture wicking and quick dry.

Also high on our list of favorite is the E-Insula patchwork full zip jacket with front pockets, tape and panel details, and a cross-hatch design on shoulders and down the sleeves.

Additional shirts, jackets, trousers, belts, caps and a camo neck bandana round out the new offerings.  Check out: galvingreen.com.
