If you are like me, you’ve lost all sense of time during the pandemic. It doesn’t help that March and April felt like they had about 100 days each. Without typical time markers like the Masters, Final Four, and Kentucky Derby, we seem to be floating through some sort of timeless dimension during the quarantine era. Further messing with the rhythm of the calendar is the fact that U.S. Open Sunday has been postponed and does not fall on Father’s Day. If you are aimlessly drifting through time, let this be a reminder that you have less than three weeks to get a gift for dear Dad.

While this week’s Outfit of the Week may seem a bit premature for a Father’s Day theme, it will prevent any further procrastination or sheltering in place inertia. Besides, this fit, with pieces from Bonobos’ Summer Collection, is so good, you’ll want to slip it to Dad a day early. This will guarantee he’ll be the best-dressed guy in his Father’s Day foursome. Plus, he’ll be able to easily transition from the course to brunch or a cookout without missing a beat.

Bonobos Performance Golf Polo (Navy with Neon Palms)

Sadly, there won’t be many tropical vacations this summer, so why not bring the tropics to Dad? For years, Bonobos’ Riviera shirts, with fun, summery prints, have been among my favorite short-sleeve button-ups for the season. Now, the brand is bringing those same cool vibes to its golf collection.

Dad will be rightfully impressed with the trendy all-over print on the Neon Palms Polo, but it’s the performance qualities that will have him putting it on repeat throughout the summer. The poly/elastane blend is loaded with stretch and the lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric can handle whatever the dog days of summer throw at it. For an extra level of style, the embroidered Bonobos logo on the left sleeve gives this shirt a Tour-quality look.

Bonobos’ variety of fits separates it from other golf apparel brands. With a choice between standard and slim, you can easily dial in the correct cut for Dad. I prefer the clean looks of the slim fit, which is more fitted in the chest and shoulders and tapered at the waist. This also allows it to look equally stylish tucked in on the course or untucked for a casual night on the town.

Bonobos Lightweight Golf Short (Beach Head Khaki)

Bonobos is known for making comfortable pants—really comfortable pants. You’ll likely remember the brand got its start as a pants company when the co-founders set out to create a better fitting trouser that eliminated the dreaded ‘khaki diaper butt.’ The result was a pant with a curved waistband and medium rise. Bonobos then took all of this knowledge and applied it to its line of golf pants and shorts while throwing in the added benefits of performance features.

The Lightweight Golf Short certainly lives up to its name. The feathery poly/nylon material is the perfect way to combat those hazy, hot, and humid days on the course. Not to mention, the softness will have you wondering how there isn’t any cotton in that blend.

Bonobos really nailed the golf-specific details on this short. The deep front and back pockets are roomy places for stashing tees and scorecard holders while the gripper waistband helps keep Dad looking neat and tidy with his shirt tucked in.

Available in six muted hues, this Beach Head Khaki colorway is highly versatile and will work with nearly everything in Dad’s wardrobe. The short in this outfit checks in with a modest 10” inseam, which will appeal to most golfers. However, if Dad isn’t one to skip leg days or prefers a shorter length, an 8” option is also available.

Bonobos Clubhouse Stretch Belt (Navy)

As you can see, week after week, Bonobos’ Clubhouse Stretch Belt finds a spot in my on-course outfit. It is a wardrobe essential any time of the year and this is particularly true for those summer rounds. The flexible poly blend braids offer a lighter look and feel for the warmer months compared to a heavy leather strap.

For this fit, I chose the navy colorway of the Clubhouse Stretch Belt. When paired with the navy Neon Palms Polo, it creates a smooth transition from the top to the bottom of the outfit. Several other colorways of the belt would work equally well, including the blue/grey, dark olive, khaki, and
the navy with brown accents.

Royal Albartross The Driver Shoes (Brown)

This outfit possesses classic good looks with modern details. It needs a shoe that is sleek and sporty but also stylish and sophisticated. Enter The Driver from Royal Albartross.

Handmade in Portugal, The Driver combines a new-school aesthetic with old-school craftsmanship. Fashioned from an Italian calf leather and e any outfit on or off the course. The lightweight Apex sole provides multi-directional traction on the fairways and also allows Dad to hit the streets without missing a beat.

This colorway is from a previous Royal Albartross collection. The brown leather and suede upper works well with khaki shorts while the navy blue stripe in the cushioned midsole ties back to the navy polo for a cohesive look. Royal Albartross’ 2020 Collection features a new darker and richer brown colorway that will work perfectly with this fit, as well.

Ray-Ban New Wayfarer Classic (Tortoise with Blue/Green Gradient)

As with the shoes, this outfit demands a contemporary take on classic shades. A pair of wrap-arounds just won’t do it.

Ray-Ban’s New Wayfarer Classic frames are the modern throwback that is needed. Wayfarers are one of the most recognizable styles in the history of sunglasses. Simple and stylish, the New Wayfarer Classic channels the same iconic shape as the originals that arrived in 1952, but with a more compact look and softer eye shape. The brown tortoiseshell frames and blue/green lenses complement the blues and browns through this outfit.

Asher Golf Premium Collection Glove (Nimbus)

Asher is known for its bold and colorful gloves, but there is also a softer, gentler side to the brand’s offerings. This light grey colorway plays a supporting role to other pieces in the outfit, but also adds more style than a basic white glove.

Speaking of soft and gentle, Asher’s collection of premium gloves has all the performance bells and whistles that serious golfers want. The gloves are made from a single piece of buttery soft AAA Cabretta leather that is precision cut.
