GolfThreads: 2020 Northern Trust — Style Recap

Sam Ryder rides in purple camo; Justin Thomas opens the window(pane); and Maverick McNealy chills at the Northern Trust

Dustin Johnson (Adidas Golf)

Dustin Johnson wears golf apparel as well as anyone. Even better than the most handsome man in golf, Adam Scott. Adidas Golf struck gold with DJ. I still can’t figure out how he wears a medium shirt. ...

Sam Ryder (Greyson Clothiers | FootJoy)

Sam Ryder might not have quite the same physique as DJ, but he’s pretty darn close. He looked great on Friday in the purple and black Wolfscape Polo from Greyson Clothiers.

Patrick Rodgers (Oakley | G/FORE)

This might be the best Oakley polo I’ve ever seen! Oakley needs to highlight Patrick Rodgers more. He is a terrific ambassador for the brand.

Bubba Watson (Oakley | G/FORE)

I have been critical of Bubba Watson’s style over the years but he’s stepped up his game lately. His shirts aren’t so big and shapeless. I may need to get myself an Oakley polo (or two).

Webb Simpson (FootJoy)

Another guy I’ve been condemnatory of over the years is Webb Simpson. There are so many instances where I felt he didn’t dress for his body type. This is a perfect example of what he SHOULD be wearing. An Athletic Fit Color Block Polo is exactly what I’ve been talking about, Webb. It creates an illusion of broader shoulders.

Collin Morikawa (Adidas Golf)

Let’s face it 2020 has sucked. With that being said, Collin Morikawa and Adidas Golf have been a big ol’ ray of sunshine. Thank you! Exactly what we’ve all needed.

Maverick McNealy (Under Armour)

I am going to give you the tip of the summer; if you have not already tried the Under Armour Iso-Chill polos, you need to do so. Now. The Iso-Chill technology literally feels cool the instant you put it on. Like an ice pack built right into the polo shirt. The fibers disperse heat, while titanium dioxide-the stuff in sunscreen-pulls away heat.

Lanto Griffin (Galvin Green | FootJoy)

You can call me a Galvin Green fan-boy if you want, but there are few golf apparel brands out there that I think are as progressive as GG. The Mason Polo is another standout from their AW20 collection I plan to add to my wardrobe.

Cameron Smith (Original Penguin | FootJoy)

Exotic-skin leather belts are taking a back seat to their woven counterparts on Tour right now, but there is no denying the beauty of this House of Fleming strap. It looks great with the yellow and blue in Cam Smith’s Original Penguin Pete In Paradise Polo.

Justin Thomas (Ralph Lauren Golf | FootJoy)

These Ralph Lauren Polo Golf window-pane trousers? Wow!! This is old-school preppy done right by JT. I will definitely be wearing these to my next Gatsby-themed-party (once we are allowed to have large gatherings again, that is).

Patrick Reed (Nike Golf)

Why, Patrick Reed? If Brooks Koepka couldn’t pull this shirt off, neither can you. Nike needs to retire this atrocity.

Ian Poulter

I love this kit from Ian Poulter. His sartorial skills are better than the cannonball he showcased on Instagram and Facebook (check it out).
