Fall golf fashion 2020: Fresh looks for the season
The 2020 calendar is about to flip to a new season and entering with fall is a fresh collection of golf apparel and accessories using the latest fabric technologies, prints, colors and textures that will fill your wish list faster than leaves change colors.
Here are a few items that have caught our Morning Read eyes.
Southern Tide: The long-sleeve, button-down Spume Intercoastal performance sport shirt for men has a blue abstract fish print that adds personality to casual workdays, date night or any time you need to dress to impress. A bit of stretch added to the fabric gives the shirt a classic fit while moisture wicking and UV protection provide the technical aspects. Machine wash cold and tumble dry make for easy care.
Southern Tide’s Collegiate apparel offers your favorite school colors and graphics featured on t-shirts, polos, pullovers and button-down tops. Show off your school pride even while distant learning or on a Zoom call.
Belyn Key: The brand combines orange, ink blue and chalk white to create its Seville women’s collection with pieces that can be mixed and matched for a myriad of different outfits. Take the cap sleeve polo, for example. It combines clean, classic styling with an easy and comfortable fit thanks to a soft and lightweight matte jersey that’s also moisture wicking and has UPF 50 sun protection built in. Belyn Key designs apparel that easily transitions from the golf course to life’s everyday activities.
Donald Ross Sportswear: Befitting the company’s namesake, Donald Ross Sportswear has built its reputation by combining modern performance fabrics with timeless golf styles that are easy to wear and care for. The signature short sleeve golf shirt comes in dozens of prints and solid and stripe colorways. Two fits — classic and sport — and sizes from small to 3XL cover the gamut of body types. The micro-polyester jersey shirts have a three, non-breakable button placket, self collar, traditional length for tucking, drape nicely, breath, wick moisture and dry quickly. What more could you ask for?
Dunning: The brand’s shorts are often referred to as the best technical bottoms in golf due to the precision fit and optimal performance features. The Player Fit woven short uses an innovative fabric blend of Coolmax and Lycra that has four-way stretch for ease of movement. These breathable ultra-lightweight bottoms feature single-needle construction and are versatile for all body types. The size range covers 30- to 42-inch waists and with 15 colors to choose from, Dunning shorts are a golf wardrobe staple.
Galvin Green: The Swedish-based company offers high-performance, multi-layer concept golfwear for the serious golfer with no compromise on style or comfort. Best known for its advanced technical outerwear for both men and women, one of this season’s highlights is the Apollo full-zip jacket that will stand up to the elements. Features of the jacket: 100-percent waterproof, windproof, breathable, lightweight, stretch fabric that is packable, adjustable chest width, elastic drawstring at hem, front pockets, and shaped sleeves for easy movement.
Greg Norman Collection: New arrivals for women include a fashionable ruched-panel-long sleeve, quarter-zip, mock neck top that is made with Lurex shimmer metallic knit. The material is very light and comfortable. There are eight colors available in sizes XS-XXL.
For men, the ML75 2Below Rope Foulard print polo is a standout with lightweight fabric that feels luxurious and has performance features such as cooling technology, sun protection, moisture wicking and quick dry. There are seven colors to choose from, all with a blue-grey Shark logo on the bottom left hem.
Imperial Headwear: Name your style because the company has a wide variety of hats, including 2020 U.S. Open Winged Foot caps, visors, bucket hats and t-shirts. A cool feature Imperial offers on its website is “design your own” products. A customer picks a hat and color, chooses from 100+ logos from states to iconic graphics, and then adds a name with block or script fonts to the back for a truly personalized product.
Kjus: The Release vest for men has light insulation on the front for warmth and four-way stretch fabric on the back, meaning your golf swing is never inhibited. This piece is windproof and lightweight so that it can be worn as a vest on cool days, paired with a long-sleeve top or sweater, or act as additional insulation under a jacket on those really brisk days. The Release vest comes in eight fashionable colorways from blacks and grays to blues and greens, plus a pop of red.
For women, the Kjus Retention printed jacket is super stylish and functional, featuring an attractive print on the front combined with contrasting stretch fabric on the sleeves and the back. Pair with the Ikala tregging in intensive green for a sporty, put together look. Don’t forget that Kjus also carries a collection of golf and ski apparel and accessories for the kids.
Swannies: The apparel brand was founded by three young friends who believe golf can be more fun, more inclusive and more accessible by loosening up the dress code just a bit. In turn, the vibe will give the game more appeal to a modern day, street fashion-inspired generation. The Haag hoodie is a perfect example. Adding a short zipper and mock neck makes it more versatile whether you wear it to the range or hang out on the couch. The fabric is polyester and spandex for stretch, and the hoodie comes in black, navy and storm gray.
Zero Friction: The brand makes compression-fit technology golf gloves that mold to the hand for a solid fit and grip that holds its shape, is breathable, flexible and durable. There’s a wide range of choices and colors in men’s and women’s gloves, including the Fan Shop where you can find NFL, MLB, NHL and Collegiate styles that make a perfect gift for your favorite alumni.
