2023 RBC Heritage Full Field: Top Players Gathering for Newly Elevated Event
The PGA Tour's annual stop at Hilton Head Island is known as a decompression week. The Masters is high-intensity drama and exhaustion, and the South Carolina lowcountry is the perfect spot to rest and recharge.
But truth be told, many top players over the years have opted to rest and recharge at home, not at Harbour Town Golf Links. That's going to change this year as the RBC Heritage is one of the Tour's "designated events," boasting a $20 million purse and therefore all the top players.
That means 27 of the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking, with only Hideki Matsuyama not playing among Tour eligibles. Also 27 of the top 30 of the SI World Golf Rankings will appear.
The Pete Dye/Jack Nicklaus layout is famously tight with tiny greens, far from a bomber's paradise. Hence its list of returning past champions include Jordan Spieth (defending champ), Stewart Cink, Webb Simpson, Jim Furyk and Matt Kuchar.
