Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee Weighs in on PGA Tour-LIV Golf Merger With Emotional Message

Former PGA Tour golfer and current Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee has been outspoken about his distaste for LIV Golf since its inception.
So, when the PGA Tour announced that it’s in agreement with the DP World Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund—the financial backer of LIV Golf—to “unify the game of golf, on a global basis” on Tuesday, fans wondered how Chamblee would react.
The analyst appeared on Golf Channel on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the news, and he didn’t hold back his emotions.
“When I first heard about it, I was completely shocked,” Chamblee said. “After the shock sort of ebbed away, I was hugely disappointed. I think this is one of the saddest days in the history of professional golf. I do believe the governing bodies, the entities, the professional entities have sacrificed their principles for profit.”

Chamblee’s criticisms of LIV Golf have included Twitter feuds with Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson. After Tuesday’s merger news broke, Koepka tweeted, “Welfare Check on Chamblee.”
