Bryson DeChambeau Says Tiger Woods Cut Him Off For Joining LIV Golf

Just a few days after Bubba Watson asserted that the status between PGA Tour players and LIV Golf members is “only awkward in the media,” Bryson DeChambeau revealed that his friendship with Tiger Woods has been cut off. 

At LIV’s Orlando event, DeChambeau told Golfweek’s Adam Schupak about the shift in his relationship with the 15-time major champion. 

According to Schupak, DeChambeau was asked if there were any PGA Tour players who have cut him off since joining the Saudi-backed golf league. 

Laughing, DeChambeau answered, “Yeah, definitely, I’m sure you can guess who.”

DeChambeau was then asked if he was referring to Woods, who has been a staunch supporter of the PGA Tour throughout golf’s power struggle. 

“Yeah, I’m not going to throw anyone under the bus. He’s been a great friend. I texted him on his birthday. It is what it is,” DeChambeau said. “He has his viewpoints on it and thinks we’re potentially hurting his record. If anything, nobody is ever going to touch his record. That’s just it, that’s the bottom line. There’s a chance to grow the game even more and I hope one day he’ll see the vision that we all have out here.”

It was unclear which record of Woods’s DeChambeau was pointing to. 

DeChambeau also added that he “miss[es] nothing” about competing on the PGA Tour. 

“I love the fans, I love the people who came to support me. I loved all that. We’re starting to get the crowds out here, slowly but surely. People are starting to get what the model is and people are starting to like the teams a bit. From what I can see, the general consensus is things are moving in a more positive direction and I’m pleased with that,” the LIV Golf member said. 

Since joining the breakaway tour DeChambeau has posted just two top-10 finishes. The Crushers GC captain came in T44 at LIV Tucson and T23 at Mayakoba. Just under three years ago, DeChambeau won the U.S. Open at Winged Foot.
