Charles Barkley Made a Hilarious Jab at Rory McIlroy at Tour Championship

Charles Barkley made an appearance at the Tour Championship on Saturday, and when he ran into Rory McIlroy after the round, he couldn’t resist a little trash talk with the four-time major champion.
First, the NBA legend-turned-TV analyst asked McIlroy about the back spasm he’s been battling at East Lake, to which the Northern Irishman responded, “it’s O.K.”
But Barkley couldn’t fully accept the answer, citing some of the increased speeds on McIlroy’s drives on Saturday.
“You got your speed up on one of your drives today,” Barkley said. “So I think you’re lying.”
The comment sparked more than a few laughs from the CBS broadcast booth, where McIlroy and Barkley ran into each other.

Despite the subtle jab, Barkley went on to have a wholesome catch-up with the former FedEx Cup champion, updating him on his family life and his recent weight-loss effort.
“I’m down 70 pounds,” Barkley said. “I got 10 more to go. My doctor told me there ain’t no fat old people.”
Then, to McIlroy’s surprise, Barkley wished him good luck at next month’s Ryder Cup. McIlroy will play for Team Europe at Marco Simone Golf Club in Rome. The U.S. is looking to end a 30-year winless drought on European soil.
“Do you mean that?” McIlroy said.
Barkley insisted he was being sincere.
“I don’t pull for teams. I pull for guys like yourself,” he explained.
McIlroy happily accepted the answer and went on his way.
