Admitted: For the first time, female members to Kasumigaseki Country Club, site of the golf competition in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The club had come under pressure from the International Olympic Committee for its exclusionary membership policies. Until last year, the club in Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture, northwest of Tokyo, allowed females on its roster, but they could not become full members and could not play on certain Sundays, restrictions that did not apply to male members.
