Mickelson, 48, is a three-time winner at Torrey Pines, where play will begin Thursday without him. Mickelson also said he will not play in the Feb. 14-17 Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club, where he has won twice. Mickelson, who finished runner-up in Sunday’s Desert Classic, will play next week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, a tournament that he has won three times and is played near where he attended college at Arizona State, and the Feb. 7-10 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which he has won four times.
