Golf News: PGA Tour teams with online gambling site

In a deal with Action Network, the Tour debuts GolfBet to provide a golf-focused betting platform

Launched: By the PGA Tour and Action Network, a golf-focused betting content platform, the Tour announced Monday. GolfBet will be overseen by Action Network, a sports-betting website that debuted in October 2018, and hosted at www.actionnetwork.com/golf and available at Action Network’s app. The PGA Tour will provide GolfBet with content via the Tour’s digital platforms, footage rights to support GolfBet videos and Tour data to ensure that GolfBet and Action Network offer accurate information. The move signals a dramatic shift for the PGA Tour, which as recently as two-plus years ago implemented the Integrity Program to enforce a ban on players, staff and others associated with the Tour against wagering on the Tour. By late 2018, the Tour was promoting a pay-per-view match between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, signaling the Tour’s eagerness to cash in on sports wagering.
