Granted: By the NCAA, an extra year of eligibility for Division I athletes in spring sports, including men’s and women’s golf, after most of the spring season was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the association announced Monday evening. The decision will allow the schools at the NCAA’s top classification to determine which athletes will receive scholarship money, and how much. This flexibility applies only to golfers who would have exhausted eligibility this spring. Scholarship limitations, which are 4½ grants in men’s golf and six in women’s golf, will be adjusted for next year to accommodate the potentially larger rosters.
