‘The Match’ hits sweet spot for reader

Hawk & Purk podcast comes down a bit too hard on Tiger Woods-Phil Mickelson rematch, golf fan contends, pointing to the action as delicious entertainment

The Hawk & Purk podcasts are always informative and entertaining. The recent discussion by co-hosts John Hawkins and Mike Purkey and their grading of the Tiger Woods-Peyton Manning vs. Phil Mickelson-Tom Brady match at a B (Purkey) or B- (Hawkins) is interesting (“Episode 18: A successful sequel for Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson,” May 27).

As journalists reviewing an event, is it always required to view the proceedings with unfiltered eyes? But I appreciate their perspective.

As a golf fan, I found “The Match: Champions for Charity” to be quite entertaining. I would give it an A. Critical reviews are a journalist's meat and potatoes.

I looked past the delay, the relatable poor play by non-professionals and a less-than-experienced Turner Sports network in this time of no tournaments. To me, it was a banana-split sundae with a chocolate-chip-cookie chaser.
