Golf news: Vijay Singh won’t play Korn Ferry Tour event at TPC Sawgrass, after all
Withdrew: From next week’s Korn Ferry Tour event, Vijay Singh, according to a report Sunday by GolfChannel.com’s Brentley Romine, who cited confirmation from the PGA Tour. Singh, 57, whose 34 victories on the PGA Tour ranks 14th alltime and includes three major championships, is a World Golf Hall of Fame member. His appearance on the entry list for the Korn Ferry Tour Challenge, the developmental tour’s first event after a three-month suspension during the coronavirus pandemic, prompted widespread criticism that was started by KFT player Brady Schnell, who later apologized. Singh has yet to publicly acknowledge the criticism or his decision not to play in the event, which will be held June 11-14 at TPC Sawgrass’ Dye’s Valley Course near Singh’s residence in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Singh is not eligible to compete in the PGA Tour’s Charles Schwab Challenge next week.
