2020 PGA Championship odds: An early look at favorites

American Bryson DeChambeau and Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy rate as the co-favorites to win the PGA Championship next week, according to Golfodds.com.

DeChambeau and McIlroy were 12-1 choices to win the PGA, which begins Aug. 6 at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.

McIlroy, 30, a four-time major champion, will be looking to win his first Grand Slam title in six years. He is a two-time PGA champion, having won in 2012 and 2014, en route to the PGA Tour’s money titles and player-of-the-year honors in both seasons. In the ensuring years, McIlroy has posted 10 top-10 results in 19 starts in major championships while seeking that elusive fifth major title.

DeChambeau, 26, who won the Rocket Mortgage Classic earlier this month, has been the talk of the Tour since the season restarted in June. He bulked up by 45 pounds, to 240, during the three-month suspension because of the global coronavirus pandemic and returned to competition smashing drives beyond his peers, leading the Tour in driving distance.

Spain’s Jon Rahm, who bumped McIlroy from the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking two weeks ago after winning the Memorial, and No. 3 Justin Thomas of the U.S. were the co-No. 3 picks to win the PGA, at 14-1 odds. Americans Patrick Cantlay, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Xander Schauffele were listed at 20-1. Tiger Woods, a four-time PGA champion who is seeking a record 83rd career PGA Tour title, was next at 25-1.
