American withdraws after a positive test during pre-tournament screening in Las Vegas, the PGA Tour announces

Withdrew: Tony Finau, from this week’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, after he tested positive for COVID-19, the PGA Tour announced late Tuesday in a statement. Finau was tested as part of the PGA Tour’s pre-tournament screening process at the Las Vegas event, the Tour said. He will self-isolate under the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Bronson Burgoon, the first alternate, will replace Finau in the field. Play begins Thursday at TPC Summerlin (tee times). Finau has posted three top-10 results in his past five starts, dating to a tie for fourth in the PGA Championship in August. He tied for eighth in the U.S. Open three weeks ago in his most recent event. Finau, 31, whose only PGA Tour victory was 4½ years ago at the Puerto Rico Open, ranks 16thin the world.
