British Open will return to Liverpool and Troon

R&A awards 2023 Open to England’s Royal Liverpool and 2024 Open to Scotland’s Royal Troon

Announced: By the R&A, the sites for the 2023 and 2024 British Opens. Royal Liverpool in England will play host to the 2023 Open, and Royal Troon in Scotland will be the site of the 2024 Open. Royal Liverpool hosted its 13th edition of the Open in 2014, when Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy hoisted the Claret Jug. Royal Troon welcomed the Open for a 10th time in 2016, with Sweden’s Henrik Stenson winning in a memorable final-round duel with American Phil Mickelson. The 2020 British Open, which was not played because of travel restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, was rescheduled for 2021 at Royal St. George’s in England. St. Andrews' Old Course in Scotland will play host to the 2022 British Open, which will be the 150th edition of golf’s longest-running major championship.
