Texans Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler headline PGA Tour’s stop at TPC San Antonio to wrap up 2-week stay in Lone Star State

Released: By the PGA Tour, tee times for the first two rounds of the Valero Texas Open, which begins Thursday at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course. Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler, both University of Texas alumni who grew up in the state, will be part of featured groups when play begins Thursday. Scheffler, who was runner-up in last week’s WGC Match Play in Austin, will be paired with Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland at 7:58 a.m. CDT Thursday on the 10th tee. Fowler must win or miss the Masters for the first time since 2010, his rookie season on the PGA Tour. Spieth, a three-time major champion who lost in the Match Play Round of 16, will be in the next group off No. 10, at 8:09 a.m. with fellow Texan Ryan Palmer, who played at Texas A&M, and Canadian Corey Conners. Tony Finau, who at No. 13 in the Official World Golf Ranking will be the highest-ranked player competing, is paired with fellow American Cameron Champ, a Texas A&M alumnus, and Joel Dahmen, who won last week’s Corales Puntacana Resort title. The Texas Open winner will earn $1.386 million from the $7.7 million purse. For complete tee times, click here.
