Announced: By the PGA Tour, plans to operate a sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, the site of the annual Waste Management Phoenix Open, according to a news release. The announcement follows the Arizona Legislature’s passage of House Bill 2772, which was written to authorize fantasy sports and sports betting in the state. Gov. Doug Ducey signed the bill into law Thursday. Under the new law, the PGA Tour and DraftKings intend to operate a retail sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, which in the days before the coronavirus attracted the biggest crowds on Tour. Plans call for what the PGA Tour calls a 19th-hole experience at the course, where fans can gather year-round to place wagers, watch sports and eat and drink. Details were expected to be announced later.
