Hideki Matsuyama Makes Incredible Eagle From 147 Yards Out

Hideki Matsuyama entered the third round of the Travelers Championship eight shots back of the leaders, so he needed to make up some ground on moving day. One way to do that is by holing out shots from the fairway and just skipping the green altogether.
On the par-4 7th hole, Matsuyama had a second shot about 147 yards from the pin, and he struck the ball so well that he needed just three bounces before the ball rolled into the cup. The eagle put Matsuyama at three-under on the day, which is crucial if he wants to catch the leaders all the way at 16-under as of this shot.

The shot marked the first eagle on seven all week by any golfer, a hole that has ranked as the eighth-hardest hole in the tournament.
Matsuyama has had an uneven 2023 season, finishing in the top 10 just twice so far on the year, and missing the cut in two tournaments as well. However, he shot a 64 in his second round at the Travelers Championship on Friday, his lowest round of the season.
