During early PGA Tour rounds, featured pairings have almost every shot captured on camera, so there are bound to be a few hot mic incidents that circulate on social media.

On Thursday at the Travelers Championship, Justin Thomas was the subject of such a moment. Cameras caught him delivering a hilarious jab at Wyndham Clark, last week’s U.S. Open winner, for a move that only a recent major champion would pull.

While playing the 12th hole at TPC River Highlands, it appeared as though Thomas was the first to approach the green, and on the short par-4 he hit it fairly close to the pin.

Clark, still waiting to hit his wedge shot from the fairway, then asked Thomas to mark his ball to avoid the very slim but real possibility that it could impede his own approach once it hit the green.

Thomas couldn’t resist a playful chirp in response: “Guy wins one f------ U.S. Open and I have to mark it from 80 yards.”

Never change, J.T.
