Max Homa, Billy Horschel Join Tiger Woods’s and Rory McIlroy’s Monday Night Golf League

TGL—the Monday night tech-infused golf league started by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy—has signed two more top PGA Tour players to add to its growing roster of talent. Max Homa and Billy Horschel have committed to the team-format venture, which will be staged on 15 Monday nights in 2024.

Homa and Horschel join founders Woods and McIlroy, along with five other world-class players: Justin Thomas, Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott and Matt Fitzpatrick.

“Thanks for having me!” Homa wrote on Twitter. “Stoked to join TGL and be part of this exciting new format that will introduce the game to a whole new set of fans #golf.”

Homa recently won the Farmers Insurance Open for his sixth PGA Tour title, and during the event he joined CBS’s golf broadcast for the first ever mid-round live interview. Homa has been vocal about his willingness to improve golf as an entertainment product, and that mindset lines up with what promises to be an innovative new league.

Horschel, 36, is a seasoned PGA Tour member with seven career victories. Throughout the LIV Golf-PGA Tour divide, Horschel has been open about his opposition toward the Saudi-backed tour. His decision to join Woods’s and McIlroy’s new circuit—which will operate in partnership with the PGA Tour—is no surprise.

“I have always enjoyed team and match-play formats, dating back to my days playing for the Gators. Being a part of a TGL team and competing in this format on a regular basis next year will hopefully play to my strengths,” Horschel said. “Competing in prime time in front of an audience will be a perfect environment for me as a passionate player who loves to feed off energy from the fans.”

TGL now has seven of the top 20 players in the Official World Golf Ranking signed on to compete. Beginning in the winter of 2024, TGL matches will take place in a high-tech custom golf venue located on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Florida.
