For the second time in less than two months, golf's magic number has been shot on the Korn Ferry Tour.

Michael Feagles, a second-year pro and the nephew of former NFL punter Jeff Feagles, shot 59 on Thursday in the first round of the BMW Charity Pro-Am in Greer, S.C.

The round was Feagles's best by six shots this season; in 10 starts he had seven missed cuts and a best finish of only T25, in an April event in Chile.

But Thursday he birdied six holes on his first nine to go out in 30 (he started on No. 10), then closed the round with five straight birdies to hit the magic number.

It was the ninth round of 59 or better all-time on the Korn Ferry Tour. Mac Meissner shot 59 on April 21 at a KFT event in Florida.

The clause "59 or better" is needed because Stephan Jaeger shot 58 in 2016, the Tour's all-time low. Notah Begay III is the only player to reach 13 under par when he shot 59 on a par-72 course in 1998.

Jim Furyk holds the low score on the PGA Tour, a 58 at the 2016 Travelers Championship.

Feagles, 25, turned pro in 2021 and played collegiately at Illinois.
