Boisterous Fan Escorted Out After Heckling Phil Mickelson About LIV at the U.S. Open
LOS ANGELES — Phil Mickelson had to back off of a putt on the 9th green at Los Angeles Country Club on Thursday afternoon and it wasn’t because he needed an extra look at the read.
A boisterous fan standing on the railing of the 18th hole grandstand, which borders No. 9, was heckling Mickelson for more than 30 seconds, causing him to lose focus ahead of the shot.
Ultimately, security intervened but the process wasn’t easy.
Mickelson finished his final hole of the first round with a two-putt to card a 69.

Mickelson’s $200 million LIV Golf deal and a faux sponsorship with “Victoria’s Secret" were among the topics that the heckler touched upon in his lengthy and extremely loud rant.
The fan was spotted perched from the elevated structure before he was removed by security.
Weird scene on 9 green — Phil Mickelson was standing over his putt when a guy in a sombrero started shouting from the bleachers. Kept going for a solid 30 seconds. Long story short…he’s not a fan.
