Rose Zhang Two Back in LPGA Pro Debut After Second Round

Rose Zhang continued her strong start to her professional golf career at the Mizuho Americas Open in Jersey City.
Zhang shot a three under in the second round of the tournament on Friday and finished the day tied for fifth at Liberty National Golf Club. Play was temporarily suspended in the second round due to inclement weather, as Zhang had two holes remaining, but resumed after a delay of just under two hours.
Minjee Lee leads all golfers at seven under par. Lauren Hartlage—who led after the first round of the tournament on Thursday—finished at three under and tied for 12th on the day.
Zhang started the second round with a birdie on the first hole, before making par on the next five holes. On the back nine, Zhang chipped in her second birdie of the day, notched her first eagle as a pro at the par-5 13th before ending her day with two bogeys and a third birdie.

The 20-year-old entered the tournament as one of the most-hyped young players in recent memory after becoming the first back-to-back NCAA champion at Stanford on May 22. Prior to that, Zhang won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April.
