ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The world No. 2 made noise Thursday at the PGA Championship, taking a share of the early clubhouse lead at 3 under.

Scottie Scheffler shot a bogey-free 67 at an Oak Hill course that is yielding some birdies but playing well over par overall. He's tied with Canada's Corey Conners, who shot his 67 with six birdies and three bogeys.

"It was a grind today, the golf course is very tough," Scheffler said after the round. "These are probably the easiest conditions we'll have all week. I just played some really good golf today.

The opening round was delayed for 1 hour, 50 minutes by frost.
