ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Friday afternoon at the 105th PGA Championship, the tournament lead was up for grabs and all the key players were on the course.

Scottie Scheffler surged into the lead with birdies on his opening two holes, getting to 5 under and one shot ahead of the 4 under pace set after the first round by Bryson DeChambeau.

As the afternoon wave began, Scheffler, Corey Conners, DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland, Adam Svensson and Keegan Bradley held the top six spots on the leaderboard and were all playing.

The clubhouse leaders are Taylor Pendrith and Justin Rose, but their 1 under scores are unlikely to be leading once everyone finishes 36 holes.

At even par is Michael Block, the low PGA pro in the tournament and living out a dream.

Cameron Young, a popular pre-tournament pick given his brief but strong history on Tour and the fact that he was raised on a similar New York course, was assessed a two-stroke penalty for playing from an incorrect position and will miss the cut.
