Located in the middle of Beverly Hills, the exclusive Los Angeles Country Club is an inherently compact golf course. That characteristic makes for a difficult, narrow routing, but it also sparks the possibility of danger. Many of LACC’s tee boxes and greens are treacherously close to each other.

Si Woo Kim, a four-time PGA Tour winner, learned that the hard way on Saturday at the U.S. Open when Keith Mitchell, playing in the group behind him, almost nailed him with an approach shot.

Kim and his playing partner, Bryson DeChambeau, stood on the tee of the historically short par-3 15th when Mitchell’s ball sailed left from the 14th fairway.

The ball landed just feet from Kim and his caddie, causing his staff bag to topple onto the ground.

A hilarious clip from moments after the dangerous incident showed Kim’s lighthearted reaction to Mitchell’s stray shot, in which he fell to the ground and played dead.

Mitchell might have had a momentary heart attack at the sight of his wayward line, but when he reached the 15th tee he shared a laugh and a hug with Kim, who luckily left the scene unscathed.

Phew.
