Recent Korn Ferry winner is on track for PGA Tour stardom

Hayden Buckley qualified as the first alternate last week on the Korn Ferry Tour and won the event. Get ready to hear more from him.

Without having an actual spot in the field two weeks ago on the Korn Ferry Tour, Hayden Buckley qualified at the last minute as the first alternate and ended up winning the LECOM Suncoast Classic with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Get ready to hear more from him.

In this week's episode, host Jeff Pelizzaro raves about Buckley and the hard work he consistently puts in. Together they recap the improbable victory on the developmental tour and what it means as a potential springboard for Buckley onto the PGA Tour in the next year.

Some highlights from the interview:

  • Buckley talks about his unlikely victory and how the awful weather from Day 2 harkens back to a previous tournament triumph that he discussed in his previous visit on the podcast.
  • The inner dialogue that helped him keep a level head through the ups and downs of the tournament. He also talks about getting into "the zone" during his Friday round.
  • How despite the media spinning this story as a “Cinderella” tale of some "nobody" winning the tournament, he has been putting in the work and paying his dues. He doesn't see his win as a stroke of luck.
