Ann Liguori uncovers an interview with the late Ted Williams that offers perspective on life as we enter a time of thanksgiving

In honor of this holiday week, Ann Liguori shares a classic “Sports Innerview” conversation with the legendary Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams when he returned to Boston for the 1999 All-Star Game. “I’m probably as lucky of a guy as you’ve ever looked at in your life,” said Williams, who gave up five seasons in his prime to serve as a fighter pilot in World War II and Korea. Williams, who died at age 83 in 2002 and often was regarded as the best hitter in baseball history, offered a tip that can apply to golf, as well. He called for “concentrated practice” rather than mindlessly beating balls for long periods of time. It certainly worked for the man known as “Teddy Ballgame.”
