A U.S. Open without Rickie Fowler? Right now, yes

Joe Skovron, Rickie Fowler's longtime caddie, discusses Fowler's positive-direction tie for 8th at the PGA Championship and the uphill struggle to make the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines

Joe Skovron, longtime caddie for Rickie Fowler, shared his thoughts on Fowler's best finish of the season – a T-8 at the PGA Championship – and how hard it was to caddie at Kiawah Island (S.C.) Resort's Ocean Course. "There's no break in the golf course to take time off," he said.

Fowler has not qualified for the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, so Skovron discussed what Fowler will need to do at Memorial and the 36-hole U.S. Open Sectional qualifier the next day. "You don't ever want to miss a major, especially when it's that close to home," said Skovron, who, like Fowler, hails from Murrieta, Calif.
